Fernando Brízio has translated his Painting with Giotto series (#3 shown above) into wearable art for Italy’s Flexibility: Design in a fast-changing society event, which kicked off this weekend.

“The topic of the exhibition – flexibility – gave me the chance to find again one of these ideas that were still unsolved. This enabled me to create open objects that, like a programme, can be modified, erased and restarted multiple times.”- Fernando Brízio

Appropriately titled “Renewable Clothing”, each white dress boasts multiple pockets to (vertically) hold uncapped felt tipped markers. Once the markers are placed, it takes less than 2 hours for the colorful ink splotches to form. Conveniently, the dresses can also be washed after each wear to provide a blank canvas for the next occasion.

Bricks are so last century. For today’s wacky construction jobs, you need a building material more unique than stupid old bricks. Architect Greg Lynn came up with just such a material, designedusing lightweight recyclable plastic. Each tri-cornered unit can be mass produced, and is robotically-cut through a process called rotational molding.

To prove that his crazy new bricks can stand up to the test, he created a structure called the Blobwall Pavilion made completely out of them and put it up for display at the Sci-Arc Gallery in Los Angeles. While it certainly looks interesting, I’m not sure anyone will be making buildings out of the things anytime soon. But I kind of hope I’m wrong.

Why spend time going on endless bad dates when you can have your parents select your soulmate? Proponents of arranged marriages say the process takes the guesswork out of picking a partner, relieves the stress of having too many choices, and puts your future in the hands of those whose experience you may trust more than your own. While this way of matching people is popular among certain cultures, I can’t imagine asking my mother to find me a husband. OMG, the new season of The Real Housewives of New York City is gonna be SO GOOD, judging by this New York magazine piece about our favorite couple, Alex McCord, and Simon Van Kampen. (The pair have hired their own publicist to keep them in the public eye in between seasons.) Despite the fact that they feel as though they were “victims of editing,” the couple, after contract negotiations, have signed on for the second season of the reality show because they came to New York to be famous, and as Simon says, “Now we have that.” [NY Magazine]

“Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” might bring to mind men fighting in foxholes — but the plan is actually rooting out more foxes of the opposite gender. The US Army and Air Force discharged an hugely uneven ratio of women to men in 2007 under the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy, which prohibits gay military personnel from disclosing their sexual orientation. The New York Times reports that even though women only make up 14 percent of Army personnel, 46 percent of those discharged under the policy in 2007 were female. Up in the air, women account for 20 percent of the Air Force and 49 percent of its discharges. JVC has his-and-hers iPod users in mind with this NX-PN7 Dual iPod Docking Station, accommodating two iPods or iPhones in this nice-looking 13-inch-wide dock. It also has features iPods leave out such as AM/FM radio and a remote control, along with some purdy illuminated strips under each receptacle that light up in nine colors.

We can’t stand the clutter of all those charging wires and docks everywhere, so this iPod clock radio/charging stand with its extra accoutrements might be a worthy and welcome addition to the abode. We especially like its ability to program two different wake up times, playing two different tunes. If its speakers sound good, this box just might be worth its $149.95 price.

If you find your dentist telling you to floss more, you may be interested in Bacon Floss. It’s like regular floss, only it tastes like bacon. I personally think it’s taking bacon a step too far, however if it gets you to floss, I suppose it can’t be that bad. They also have bacon pez, toothpicks, bubble gum and mints.
